Moon From the Roof

I thought I'd try out my telephoto lens at night with the D300S. It doesn't look too bad without a cable release! This was actually taken before sunset. I increased the shutter speed to get the details of the surface since the moon was so bright. That caused the blue sky to completely disappear in the final product.

I have yet to see "Exit Through the Gift Shop" and know little about it, but apparently Thierry Guetta (aka Mr. Brainwash) is responsible for the movie and I had no idea until today. I find his work fascinating and currently have two pieces hanging in my apartment, so this movie has become a must-see as of this moment. Being reminded of his work this evening, I decided to go back through some photographs I took a few months ago at an exhibit of his in the Meat Packing District. This is one of his larger mural pieces. Obviously, Andy Warhol is a huge influence in Guetta's pop-graffiti.

Chasing Birds

Best friends start the morning with a little bird chasing on the beach. I doubt there's anything better.

I need to expand my abilities in architectural photography. Although I love this shot on a foot bridge, it's difficult to get the kind of shot I appreciate when it comes to large structures. A challenge awaits I suppose.

One of the window displays in front of Macy's during the Christmas season of 2009. There were alternating rings of letters creating a foreshortening effect as they get delivered to the North Pole.

This has got to be the smallest snail I've ever seen. I came across this little guy when moving a plant into a new home. For a size comparison, he's crawling on the tip of my thumb in a gardening glove.

This giant, bronze osprey is known as "Morning Call" by Roberto Julio Bessin. It is a dedication to the victims of the World Trade Center attacks and the perch is actually a twisted steel beam from the wreckage of the buildings. It overlooks the Greenport Harbor on Long Island.
